Northern Rockies Nature Journaling (NRNJ) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that connects people with nature. Proceeds from donations, memberships and class fees go to keeping our activities accessible to all and serving the general public with engaging nature journaling experiences.
We gather weekly to journal in various locations in western Montana under the name “Naturalists with Brushes.” During the winter, sessions are offered on Zoom and at indoor facilities. See our ‘Events’ tab for more info.
We also offer classes and workshops on nature journaling skills, exploring nature, developing naturalist skills, and journaling art for schools, organizations and the public. Find our catalog under the ‘Classes’ tab.
NRNJ is run entirely by volunteers.
Everyone is invited to join: beginning journalers to advanced, young to old, all races, religions and genders.
Our newsletter “Nature’s Keepers” is published monthly. You may sign up to receive it via email, or go to our ‘Newsletter’ tab.
Each year we hold a Summit during the month of June at a special location in the Northern Rockies. This is an incredible opportunity to learn new skills, take time to journal, and spend time with like-minded friends in a pristine location. And finally, we would like to make a statement about our values and expectations that we hold to in all of our activities:
Northern Rockies Nature Journaling is committed to inclusivity, respect, and equal opportunity for everyone as we nurture and celebrate a diverse, global community of nature journalers.
All Northern Rockies nature Journaling events and gatherings include expectations of conduct based on this community culture of inclusivity, respect, kindness, and a growth mindset. We nurture a safe, welcoming, joyful, and fun community for all, and so we foster and promote an environment where all interactions allow every community member to feel welcome, safe, and heard.
This means that as a community, we will not tolerate the following behavior in any community platform, gathering, event, or forum (including in-person and online):
Insults or threats
Racist or sexist comments or content
Hate speech
Sexually explicit comments or content
Defamatory comments or content involving race, culture, political views, identification / orientation
Language that is considered socially offensive due to being vulgar or obscene
Other problematic behaviors or comments
The Northern Rockies Nature Journaling team reserves the right to ask members to leave our community (including forums, classes, and events—online or in person) for violating our community values. In most instances, we will first communicate with a written warning, but in extreme cases we will ask members to leave immediately and they will be unable to participate in community events in the future.
We appreciate and value this creative and global community. Thank you for doing your part to keep it safe and kind for everyone.
